Traineeship

What Dry Cleaners do

  • Examine articles, picking out those that may need hand spotting, repairs or treatment of stains
  • Sort articles by weight, colour and type and load into computer-operated dry cleaning machines, unloading when completed
  • Ensure cleaned garments are ironed and pressed, or sent to the finishing section to be pressed by steam and vacuum
  • Operate boiler and wet cleaning machines
  • Ensure quality of cleaning and repairs of garments have met customer requirements and expectations
  • Make minor repairs to garments such as replace missing buttons
  • Apply finishes to garments such as waterproofing
  • Ensure maintenance on machines such as dry cleaning and pressing equipment
  • Administer orders and goods
