Are you currently in Year 10 and wish to commence a School-Based Traineeship as part of your HSC studies?

A school based traineeship is predominantly completed in the preliminary and HSC years by combining paid work, training and secondary education.

The traineeship includes an industry recognised national qualification as part of your pattern of study for the Higher School Certificate.

The traineeship is completed at the same time as the Higher School Certificate (about 24 months). You can start your traineeship after your School Certificate in November or at the beginning of Year 11 and finish at the end of Year 12.

The “on the job” training component will be undertaken for an average of one day a week. Depending on your study schedule you may work during school, after school, on weekends and in holidays. The “off the job” training is completed either at school or TAFE or with an approved provider. All “off the job” training counts towards your HSC.
