What Crane Drivers do

  • Inspect the condition of the site and place timber blocks or steel plates under the outrigger pads of the crane
  • Before attempting to lift and place a load ensure crane is level
  • Check weather conditions and crane’s capacity before hoisting each load
  • Check cranes controls, instruments, gauges, position of crane and move the hook so that doggers can attach loads, slings, shackles and chains
  • Observe and follow signals and instructions given by doggers directing movement and positioning of loads
  • Maintenance of cranes to ensure good working order including lubricating ropes and winches, replacing worn cables, defects and worn parts

  • Employment for a minimum of one year
