What Chefs do
- Assist with the planning of menus and calculating of food and labour costs
- Discuss and provide advice on food preparation issues with managers, dieticians and other staff members
- Order food, kitchen supplies and equipment from suppliers
- Give cooking demonstrations to assist with specialised techniques
- Prepare, cook and monitor food at all stages
- Divide food into portions and garnishes for presentation
- Supervise correct storage of food
- Ensure hygiene regulations are being met
