What Chefs do

  • Assist with the planning of menus and calculating of food and labour costs
  • Discuss and provide advice on food preparation issues with managers, dieticians and other staff members
  • Order food, kitchen supplies and equipment from suppliers
  • Give cooking demonstrations to assist with specialised techniques
  • Prepare, cook and monitor food at all stages
  • Divide food into portions and garnishes for presentation
  • Supervise correct storage of food
  • Ensure hygiene regulations are being met
