What Butchers do
- Cut, trim and shape different types of meat to size
- Sort out carcasses into primary and secondary cuts
- Pack and store products for display and sale
- Use International Ausmeat Language to order supplies from wholesalers
- Weigh and check stock on order
- Operate meat processing machinery such as mincers, mixers or sausage-forming machines
- Prepare marinated meats and ready-to-cook dishes
- Advise customers about options for cuts of meat, cooking methods, storage requirements and nutritional aspects of meat and then complete sale by collecting payment
- Use correct techniques for cleaning and preparing food areas, adhering to Health and Safety regulations.
