What Assistant Chefs do
- Check quality of the food
- Regulate temperatures of cooking equipment such as ovens and grills
- Food preparation
- Cook food by either baking, braising, frying, roasting or steaming
- Ensure good presentation of food and its proportions
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene of food preparation areas and equipment
- Ensure food is kept at the right temperatures, including refrigeration
- Maintain and estimate food supplies
- Make sure kitchen is functional
- Plan menus
- Prepare food to meet individual dietary requirements
- Train and supervise staff.
