Traineeship
What Waste Management Operators do
- Help unload waste from car and truck
- Operate waste disposal equipment such as forklifts and compacting machines to sort, crush and stack waste material
- Identify and handle hazardous materials
- Load sorted waste onto trucks and dispatch to landfill area or recycling plants
- Maintain equipment and facilities of the plant
- Perform routine servicing and cleaning of storage facilities, plants and waste management equipment
- Maintain records an prepare reports detailing plant operation
- Facilitate school and visitor inspections
- Receive, monitor and respond to remote alarms
- Operate waste disposal equipment, forklifts and compacting machines
