What Vehicle Body Builders do
- Follow engineering drawings and instructions to construct framework
- Build vehicle framework segments in metal, wood and fibreglass
- Use specialised shaping, welding, bolting and cutting machinery and equipment
- Cut and fasten panels of sheet metal, aluminium, stainless steel or reinforced plastic to cover the framework
- Install axles, suspensions and brakes to vehicles
- Assist with the design of mechanised equipment such as door handles, locks and hinges
- Design and perform vehicle framework alterations in consultation with engineers
- Alter assembly line vehicles to meet special requirements.
