What Upholsterers do
- Assist clients with choice of colour, fabric, style and cost
- Stretch lengths of webbing tape across furniture frame and staple to underside
- Stretch and staple interlacing layers of webbing from side to side
- Prevent sideways movement by lacing tops of springs together then staple hessian to the frame
- Shape and cut foam padding, make patterns for furniture coverings, measure and cut fabric, join sections and tack fabric on to the furniture frame
- Use decorative braid, trim, buttons or fancy nails to cover staples and attach calico to the cover the underside of the furniture
- Restore and repair upholstered furniture by replacing cover, webbing, padding and springs.
