What Saw Doctors do

  • Produce saw blades from sheets or strips of steel
  • Straighten and stretch steel in circular and band saws
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and machines
  • Maintain cutting tools by milling, grinding, pressing and sharpening them
  • Weld tools, saws and cutting edges
  • Assemble, calibrate and dismantle instruments where appropriate
  • Repair and service tools and machinery
  • Stock a range of mechanical parts for sawing machinery used in timber processing

  • Normal vision and hearing
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to work in a team
  • School Certificate

The Future

  • Employment for a minimum of four years
