What Railway Track Workers do
- Lays new railway tracks by placing sleepers across roadbeds, position and fasten rails on sleepers
- Repairs and maintains tracks, switches and railway property including railway lines, transfer yards, mines and quarries
- Construct rails by cutting to length and grind rough rail ends, drill bolt holes, bolt and weld rail sections
- Ensure firm foundation for sleepers by spreading and packing ballast
- Control vegetation on railway reserves
