What Rail Transport Employees do
- Operate and maintain locomotives and railway equipment
- Drive locomotives to transport passengers and goods
- Ensure the safety of the train and the passengers on board
- Operate signals to ensure the smooth running of the trains
- Maintain station facilities and inform the public on train arrivals and departures
- Repair and maintain railway tracks and their surrounds
- Work in remote locations in all types of weather and irregular hours
