What Panel Beaters do
- Remove damaged vehicle panels and components
- Hammer panels with specialised panel beating tools to remove dent
- Use mechanical and hydraulic equipment to straighten damaged vehicles
- Cut, fit and weld replacement parts
- Fill dents with plastic fillers and file, grind and sand repaired surfaces using power and hand tools
- Refit the repaired panel or replacement onto the vehicle and reassemble connecting components such as door locks and trims
- Realign vehicle body frames using specialised alignment machines
- Dismantle damaged auto-electric components and repair or replace where appropriate
- Assist body builders to build custom-designed or restore vintage vehicles
- Assist spray painter with finishing touches
