Traineeship

What Museum Attendants do

  • Organise and conduct tours of museums or galleries
  • Answer enquiries about the museum and exhibits
  • Inform visitors about exhibits and give directions where necessary
  • Control visitors’ access to exhibits and unauthorised entry into staff only areas
  • Check that all visitors have left the building at closing time
  • Inspect membership cards, admission passes and tickets to exhibitions
  • Patrol museum or gallery to ensure security of exhibits

  • Interest and passion for museums, art galleries and culture
  • Ability to articulate information simply and clearly
  • An outgoing, friendly and confident nature
  • Good oral and communication skills
  • Ability to manage groups of people
  • School Certificate
