What Marine Engine Drivers do
- Operate and maintain the main ship engines and associated machinery, electrical, refrigeration, airconditioning and cargo-handling equipment
- Watch automatic data recording equipment, analyse data and make adjustments as required. In vessels without automated equipment, manually record readings and make similar analysis and adjustments
- Carry out regular maintenance of the main engine and repair defective machines or equipment
- Arrange engine room watches at sea and in port
- Make sure that the operations of the vessel are non polluting
- Maintain engine room stores and record usage and replacement of parts and equipment

The Future
- Employment for minimum of one year
- Employment areas include: shipping companies including general cargo, container, bulk carrier and tanker companies, drilling platforms and government authorities
