What Jewellers do
- Design and make jewellery and three-dimensional objects
- Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for the construction process
- Shape and assemble materials by cutting, filing, hammering, turning, spinning, bending, casting, folding, linking, soldering, screwing and riveting components
- Use specialised hand and power tools eg in securing gemstones in settings
- Preparation of finished surfaces by using files, emery paper, buffing machines or other appropriate tools and equipment
- Engrave designs on ring settings, brooches, bracelets and other articles
- Repair and / or remodel jewellery
- Wholesale and retail selling of jewellery
