What Glass Cutters and Glazers do

  • Analyse and interpret drawings, plans and specifications
  • Measure the amount of glass required for the job
  • Place glass sheets onto cutting tables and mark the area using a specialised glasscutters
  • Use a variety of drills and cutters to put holes in glass
  • Safely remove broken glass and mirrors from work stations and clean and prepare surfaces for re-glazing
  • Smooth and polish edges utilising grinding or bevelling wheels
  • Fit the cut glass into the required frames using putty, chemical compounds or rubber strips
  • Assemble components of pre-made glass units
  • Install glass and mirrors in windows, skylights, display cases, interior walls and ceilings
  • Design and produce decorative fringes and edges on glass and mirrors
