Traineeship

What Furniture Making Tradespeople do

Select timber and manufactured board and prepare for use
Design, measure, mark, cut and shape pieces using power tools and woodworking equipment
Trim, sand and glue joints and assemble pieces together to form sections of furniture
Prepare surfaces, mix and apply stains or paint
Assemble prepared sections to form furniture
Attach hinges, locks, catches, drawers and shelves
Repair damaged furniture and cabinets as requested by customers

Interest in furniture making
Good physical fitness and colour vision
Good eye-hand coordination
