140 Indigenous graduates set their sights on top careers

140 Indigenous trainees have graduated from Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) school based and full-time traineeships in a series of ceremonies across Australia, culminating in a gathering of AES staff, friends and family at an event held at Darling Harbour.

2011 HTN Apprentice Chef Culinary Competition

October 5th saw the culmination of three months worth of regional heats in NSW, ACT and VIC with the Grand Final of the 2011 HTN Apprentice Chef Culinary Competition. The Grand Final was again hosted by TAFE NSW, Northern Sydney Institute, Ryde College who supplied four kitchens for the 48 competitors to cook-off against each other.

2011 NSW Group Training Award - Winners Announced

A horse farrier, a laboratory technician, and an Aboriginal land project worker are amongst the winners of this year’s NSW Group Training Awards which recognise our best apprentices, trainees and their host employers.

Finalists in the 2011 NSW Group Training Awards have been announced, with judges commenting on the high quality of the trainees and apprentices who entered this year’s Awards program.

2012 Apprentice Drive

The Mariners and Central Coast Group Training have now joined forces to launch the 2012 Apprentice Drive. The drive is on to deliver an apprentice a day for 30 days.

CCGT and the Mariners are calling on all businesses across the Coast to consider an apprentice or trainee for their business.

The NSW Training Awards are conducted annually by the NSW Department of Education and Communities to recognise outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector. The awards honour and reward the achievements of students, trainers, training organisations, and employers, large and small.

MIGAS program helps NSW apprentices develop life skills

GTA NSW member MIGAS have launched a new initiative to teach essential life skills to their top apprentices to ensure they have the opportunity to grow personally, professionally and financially.

ATEL WAGGA WAGGA Participates in Pre-apprenticeship Program

A group of young local Riverina students has gained valuable experience in construction carpentry. Students came from a variety of backgrounds, nine men and one woman, two being from Cootamundra and the remaining from Wagga Wagga. Eight were high school students and two mature-aged students also completed the course.

Awards close out successful 30th year for HVTC

NSW based Hunter Valley Training Company (HVTC) is rounding out a highly successful and eventful 30th year of operations by winning a number of awards.

Certificate IV Field Officer Qualification for GTA NSW members

GTA Victoria applied for funding through the National Workforce Development Fund (DEEWR) for delivery of the Certificate IV Field Officer Qualification for GTO staff in 2012 & 2013. This funding has now been approved and GTA NSW will be working with GTA Vic to coordinate the delivery for GTOs in NSW (RTO has yet to be confimed).
