Tour Guide

What people in this role do:

  • Meet with and make introductions for members of the tour party
  • Look after tour groups and ensure they are comfortable
  • Lead the tour and check all accommodation and transport bookings
  • Provide researched commentaries, point out local interest points, and share general information on tour highlights and history
  • Ensure pre-arranged touring activities are in place such as visits to local attractions, restaurants or shops, train rides, cruises
  • Attend to any problems experienced on the tour such as booking errors, lost luggage, illness and provide first aid
  • Attend to administrative work, keep in touch with transportation companies and complete reports of daily activities

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

  • Excellent general knowledge

  • Good communication skills
  • Patience, tact and cultural awareness
  • Knowledge of another language
  • School Certificate
