Wood Machinist

What people in this role do:

• Examine drawing, check work orders and samples to understand the job requirements
• Assess the work to be done and choose the tools to be used and decide how to do the work
• Use a variety of hand tool, power tools and machinery
• Set up, adjust and prepare woodworking machines
• Operate woodworking machines to cut, plane, turn, shape and sand
• Program and control computer-aided design (CAD) and computer numerical control (CNC) machines
• Clean machines and work areas regularly
• Follow safety instructions at all time

The Future
