Timber Forest Products Worker

What people in this role do:

• Convert logs into usable timber by using bandsaws, gangsaws or circular saws
• Cut timber to size and undertake various operations such as kiln drying, visual or mechanical stress grading
• Prepare timber for dispatch by stacking and packing
• Use computerised equipment for the production of veneers, plywood , laminates and paper products
• Put together fabricated products such as timber frames and trusses
• Fill orders by selecting timber and cut timber to required lengths
• Keep administrative record

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

• An interest in practical work and enjoy working with timber and timber products
• Awareness of occupational, health and safety issues
• Physical fitness
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Ability in maths
• School Certificate
