Telecommunication Tradesperson - Broadcasting Technician

What people in this role do:

• Install, operate, maintain and repair equipment used for transmission and reception of television and radio signals, including microwave and satellite equipment
• Replace faulty wiring and terminals and re-solder connections
• Install underground cables for telephone, radio, pay TV and computer transmission
• Find and replace faulty assemblies and parts (e.g. Capacitors, transistors, integrated circuits, printed circuit boards and transformers) using electronic test equipment
• Check output power, frequency and modulation using test equipment
• Check the operation of equipment such as antennas, remote controls and auxiliary power units
• Assist with building, installation and adjustment of new equipment
• Check and monitor operation of equipment

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

• Normal eyesight and colour vision
• Manual dexterity
• Technical ability
• Ability to work in confined space and at heights
• Mathematical and scientific skills
• A fast methodical approach to work
• School Certificate
