Sports Official
What people in this role do:
- Supervise participants in sporting events to ensure rules are not broken and award penalties when they are
- Inspect team record sheets and players’ clothing and ensure that equipment is working properly and safely
- Keep time for sporting events and start and stop play
- Ensure play is conducted as safely as possible and keep score for the game
- File reports for unsporting and dangerous behaviour play to the sporting bodies controlling the sport
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Comprehensive understanding of the rules of the sport
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to keep calm professionally in stressful situations
- Good observational and leadership skills
- Ability to think quickly
- Physical fitness
- School Certificate
