Sports Official

What people in this role do:

  • Supervise participants in sporting events to ensure rules are not broken and award penalties when they are
  • Inspect team record sheets and players’ clothing and ensure that equipment is working properly and safely
  • Keep time for sporting events and start and stop play
  • Ensure play is conducted as safely as possible and keep score for the game
  • File reports for unsporting and dangerous behaviour play to the sporting bodies controlling the sport

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the rules of the sport
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to keep calm professionally in stressful situations
  • Good observational and leadership skills
  • Ability to think quickly
  • Physical fitness
  • School Certificate
