Sports Development Officer

What people in this role do:

  • Develop sport and recreation programs, services and initiatives which address equity, social justice and community issues and coordinate the delivery of these programs
  • Manage the finances of approved programs and special projects and give organisational support to school or clubs
  • Collect information to increase understanding of community sport and recreation activities
  • Pass on information from sporting bodies to sport teachers and coaches
  • Conduct coaching clinics and training camps and develop training exercises to improve sporting skills
  • Coach for competitions and scout for talent
  • Organise competitions and arrange venues
  • Ensure the maintenance of sports grounds, courts and venues.

  • Sound problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • A love of sport
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel and work irregular hours
  • School Certificate
