Sports Coach
What people in this role do:
- Observe individuals’ performances and determine instruction level required
- Teach techniques during practice sessions to players to acquire additional skills or improve existing skills
- Supervise the physical development of athletes and plan training programs
- Liaise with sports science support staff and club officials
- Arrange entries into competitions and plan and direct game strategy
- Analyse and observe the progress of games or athletes and give instructions
- Complete and evaluate after-competition analysis of performance and strategies
- Attend to administrative tasks such as booking venues, organising tours and budgeting
- Recruit players and other coaching staff.
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Comprehensive understanding of your sport
- Knowledge of the developmental needs of the athletes
- Enthusiasm, discipline and dedication
- Interest in travel and are prepared to work long hours, evenings and weekends
- Good oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to interact well with others
- School Certificate
