Shearer
What people in this role do:
- Remove sheep from catching pens and shear fleece from sheep in one piece
- Select appropriate shearing combs to suit the type of sheep and wool
- Treat any skin cuts from shearing on sheep
- Return shorn sheep to let-out pens for checking and counting
- Select hand shears or special combs and shear stud animals
- Clean, sharpen and maintain combs and cutters
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work quickly and consistently with your hands
- Good coordination and are able to handle sheep with confidence
- Ability to live in remote areas
- Physical fitness
- School Certificate
The Future
- Employment for minimum of one year
