Pest and Weed Controller

What people in this role do:

  • Inspect properties, identify and advise on problems and treatments and estimates costs
  • Use and store chemicals safely and mix chemicals to specified quantities
  • Apply correct first aid when chemical burns occur
  • Operate and maintain machines and equipment including generators, compressors and pumps
  • Fumigate houses, work areas, storage spaces, furnishings and clothing
  • Dust infested areas with powder and / or lay baits
  • Apply pesticides or herbicides in the pre-treatment of building sites taking care to minimise damage to plants, animals and the environment
  • Undertake maintenance practices to prevent pests entering buildings including bird-proofing roofs
  • Maintain inspected property records by noting the pest or weed problem, chemicals used and amount of time spent at each location.

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

  • No breathing / respiratory problems or conditions
  • Have no allergies to the chemicals
  • Awareness of safety concerns
  • Ability to make accurate observations and calculations
  • A responsible attitude
  • School Certificate
