Painter-Decorator

What people in this role do:

• Discuss, measure and view specifications and drawings
• Estimate quantity of materials required
• Prepare worksite by erecting scaffolding, cradles and ladders and lay dropsheets
• Surface preparation by fixing woodwork, filling holes, cracks and joins, washing to remove dust and grease and removal of paint or wallpaper by sanding, scraping, steaming or striping
• Select and prepare tints and mixes
• Apply paint and other materials to surfaces using brushes, roller or sprayers
• Cut paste and hang wallpaper to match pattern
• Design and apply decorative paint finishes such as stencils, marbling and lettering
• Maintain, wash and clean tools and equipment
