What people in this role do:

• Operate and monitor surface or underground mining machines and equipment
• Communicate and coordinate with other operators during earthmoving operations
• Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment
• Complete development work including opening up new shafts, drives, air vents, rises, winzes or crib rooms
• Complete detailed operational log sheets during shifts
• Use electronic controls, sensors and monitors to operate equipment

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

• Interest in practical and manual activities
• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to do physically demanding work
• Understanding of occupational health and safety rules
• Age limits apply
• School Certificate
