Nursery Tradesperson
What people in this role do:
- Use hand tools and machines to prepare soil
- Plant seeds, bulbs or cuttings in beds, lawn areas or pots
- Assist with the budding or grafting process
- Water plants manually and by controlled automatic watering systems
- Apply pesticides to control pests, diseases, weeds and other plant disorders
- Advise customers on the choice of plant, give care instructions and inform them of the best local conditions
- Design layouts and product presentation for plant sales
- Handle money and orders and arrange delivery to customers
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Ability to undertake manual and heavy work
- No allergies to chemicals and plants
- Ability to work outdoors in any weather condition
- Methodical and precise by nature
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in a team
- School Certificate
