Horticultural Tradesperson - Greenkeeper

What people in this role do:

• Prepare, establish and manage fine turf, grassed areas and synthetic surfaces used for sport
• Identify and correct soil deficiencies and treat pests on plants
• Interpret landscape plans and construct rockeries, paths or ponds
• Assist with the planting and transplanting of flowers, shrubs, trees and lawns
• Use a variety of techniques to maintain greens and gardens such as fertilising, trimming and watering
• Install, operate and adjust irrigation and drainage systems
• Load and unload gardening supplies and equipment
• Use, maintain and service equipment such as lawn mowers and gardening tools

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

• Enjoyment of practical and mechanical work
• Ability to undertake manual and heavy work
• Flexibility and ability to work for long hours
• Ability to work outdoors in any weather condition
• Interest in the environment
• School Certificate
