Hospital Assistant
What people in this role do:
- Assist in the care of patients including lifting and turning bedridden patients
- Help patients to eat, shower, bathe, shave and dress while supervised by a registered nurse
- Assist patients to move around and communicate with other hospital staff
- Ensure that soiled items are removed and clean clothing and linen is supplied to the patient
- Observe and report to supervisor any changes in the patients condition or any complaints
- Assist qualified staff with rehabilitation exercises and basic treatment and medications
- Perform basic first aid and procedures including applying and changing dressings
- Accompany patients ready for discharge to the appropriate area.
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Patience and nurturing nature
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy objects
- Commitment to the rights of elderly and disabled people to live with dignity
- School Certificate
