Wall and Floor Tiler
What people in this role do:
- Evaluate the plans and specification
- Measure and mark out surfaces to be covered
- Prepare and organise wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, cement and adhesive, filling holes and cracks, and cleaning surfaces
- Apply adhesive onto surfaces and tiles, and set tiles in position
- Align tiles to ensure patterned tiles match up
- Cut and shape tiles using tile cutting tools
- Use spirit levels, squares and plumb-lines to check level
- Prepare and apply grout to tiles
- Apply waterproofing systems
- Clean and polish tiles
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Enjoyment of practical and manual work
- Ability to work at heights
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to make simple calculations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Neat and accurate work methods
- School Certificate
The Future
- Employment for a minimum of four years
