Steel Fixer

What people in this role do:

• Check working plans and steel lists for instructions on the work to be done
• Use the information from the work plans and steel lists to plan and organise for the work to be requested
• Use equipment such as bolt cutters, powers saw or guillotines to make steel bars or mesh the required length
• Place the reinforcing bars or mesh by welding, wiring or clipping within the concrete in positions according to the work plans
• Make steel reinforcement such as beams, footing pads or special units
• Attach the prefabricated units and position together ready for concrete pours.
