Soft Furnishing Tradesperson

What people in this role do:

• Discuss options with clients and select fabric
• Estimate cost and order materials
• Using patterns cut fabric to size
• Make up articles using sewing machines
• Finish the items by using hand and power tools and steam presses
• Maintain equipment and machinery in good working order
• Install curtains and other soft furnishing pieces

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

• Practical and team skills
• The ability to work neatly, systematically and do detailed work
• Patience and the ability to meet production deadlines
• Good eyesight and normal colour vision,
• Physical fitness
• Good communication skills
