Winery Worker

What people in this role do:

• May specialise and work in one or more areas of the wine industry or work in all aspects of the industry
• Prepare soil for planting, plant, cultivate, fertilise and control vines for disease and pests
• Erect wire trellises to support vines and fruit
• Help pick grapes and prune vines after the harvest
• Help with the crushing and fermenting of the grapes
• Assist in bottle fermentation of sparkling wines by twining (turning the bottles) and re-topping
• Use machines to clarify and filter wine
• Make additions to wine, blend and transfer wine during maturation
• Prepare wine for bottling and assist with the bottling, and corking
• Help with barrel work and racking and general cleaning operations

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

• Practical skills and must enjoy manual work
• Ability to work quickly and reliably
• Good numeracy skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• The ability to work safely
• School Certificate
