Baker - Retailer

What people in this role do:

• Check and maintain equipment to meet health and safety regulations
• Check the quality of raw materials
• Weigh and mix ingredients by hand or machine, then place in tins or trays
• Place tins or trays into ovens, checking oven temperatures and bread, cake or pastry till ready
• Unload baked products from ovens, remove from tins and trays and set aside to cool
• Glaze or decorate cakes and pastries
• Order and maintain baking supplies
• Operate slicing and wrapping machines
• Customers service

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

• Interest in practical work
• Good hand-eye coordination
• No skin allergies or chest complaints
• Good physical fitness and health
• Clean and hygienic attitude
• School Certificate

The Future

• Employment for a minimum of one year
• Employment areas include: factories producing baked products, hot bread shops, specialty cake stores and ‘in house’ bakeries in supermarkets
