Moulder / Coremaker / Caster
What people in this role do:
- Make sand moulds for casting metal objects and for structural frames of equipment used in mining and forestry
- Interpret drawings and specifications for job materials and equipment requirements
- Fabricate parts or sub-assemblies by cutting, rolling, shaping, bending, moulding, spinning, heating or hammering metal products
- Heat treat metal parts and components
- Operate hand and machine tools, welding equipment and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines
- Assemble and joining parts and structures by welding, bolting or riveting
- Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing or bathing them in acid solutions, or by applying protective or decorative coatings.
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Enjoyment of technical work and computers
- Good general physical fitness
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work well in a team
- Patience and accuracy
- No skin or breathing allergies
- Safety awareness
- School Certificate
