Fabrication Engineering Tradesperson
What people in this role do:
- Inspect and interpret detailed drawings or specifications to find out the material and equipment requirements for a job
- Cut, roll, shape, heat or hammer metal products to produce parts
- Use a range of equipment, such as, hand and machine tools, welding equipment and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines
- Use a variety of techniques to assemble fabrication parts and structures
- Align and fix pieces together with welding, bolting or riveting
- Add finishing touches to products by cleaning, polishing, filing or by applying protective or decorative coatings.
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Technical aptitude
- Interest in computer and computer systems
- Good general physical fitness
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work well in a team
- Patience and accuracy
- No skin or breathing problems
- Safety awareness
- School Certificate

- Employment areas include: engineering and construction firms, manufacturing organisations, shipyards, electricity & gas supply authorities and government departments
