Lineworker
What people in this role do:
- Patrol and inspect electrical lines, poles and towers
- Install earth stakes, power poles, towers and guy wires, using power tools and other equipment
- Install and maintain aerial equipment such as street lights
- Use a variety of machinery, hand and power tools as well as specialised equipment
- Trim tree branches to clear power lines
- Wrap all live wires with insulating materials
- Make adjustments and alternations where necessary to lines
- Perform emergency repairs such as isolating live wires
- Make sure that all functions and equipment are correctly connected
- Monitor and maintain safe working conditions
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Enjoyment of practical outdoor work
- Willingness and ability to perform tasks at heights
- Safety Awareness
- Normal eyesight and colour vision
- Good hand / eye coordination
- Ability to work well as part of a group
- School Certificate
