Cable Jointer
What people in this role do:
- Distribute and join electrical cables through underground pipes into equipment and distribution systems specialising in fire protection, networks or security data systems
- Organise and prepare high and low voltage cable joints and cable terminations
- Install and connect electrical equipment and overhead lines
- Test and locate cable faults
- Monitor and repair cables
- Ensure all functions are working correctly
- Help with the manufacturing and preparing of cable jointing components
- Cover cables with a protective sheath
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Enjoyment of practical and manual work
- Good eyesight and colour vision
- Good general physical fitness
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Safety Awareness
- Ability to perform tasks at heights
- Ability to work well in a group situation
- School Certificate
