Library Assistant
What people in this role do:
- Sort books and materials according to classification or catalogue numbers and return to storage areas
- Issue items from library to borrowers and record borrowers information and due dates
- Compile lists of overdue items and issue overdue notices to borrowers
- Inspect items and make minor repairs where required
- Issue Library cards to borrowers
- Assist with information and telephone enquiries
- Assist with outreach services such as the provision of a housebound service
- Complete general administration duties such as operate photocopier, sort mail, unpack new materials, input data to local databases, type catalogue cards and labels, and file appropriately
- Assist in library duties including arranging publicity displays and multimedia kits, accessing print and non-print materials, perform inter-library loan functions
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Interest in computers
- A practical, logical approach to work
- Good organisational and customer service skills
- Good oral and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- School Certificate
