Child Care Worker
What people in this role do:
- Plan and implement individual programs based on observation
- Observe children’s development, growth and behaviour, record and report to parents
- Develop and modify programs and the environment for children with special needs
- Prepare learning materials and play equipment in children’s environment
- Supervise children’s play, ensuring their safety at all times
- Help children with daily tasks including toileting, dressing, eating and sleeping
- Facilitate children’s behaviour and social development
- Prepare snacks and meals for children
- Maintain an environment that is safe and clean
- Perform first aid where required
Your chances of success will be better if you have:
- Ability to take action quickly and be alert
- Willingness to accept responsibility
- Ability to relate well to families
- Patience
- A good level of physical fitness
- School Certificate
The Future
- Employment for a minimum of one year
- Employment areas include: private, government and community-based child care centres, kindergartens, cr?ches, hospitals, women‘s shelters and neighbourhood houses
