Alcohol and Drugs Councellor
What people in this role do:
- Assist and support clients who experience difficulties with alcohol and / or drugs to explore alternatives
- Provide withdrawal services for alcohol and / or drug dependants
- Support clients who are under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs and provide emergency response intervention to individuals at risk of self-harm or suicide
- Provide needle exchange services
- Help plan and promote educational health and community intervention programs on drug and alcohol awareness
- Identify and help children at risk of harm
- Educate, support and inform adults on health, wellbeing and parenting
- Support and communicate with others on behalf of clients
- Assist in evaluation and preparation of submissions for funding for ongoing programs and new projects
- Provide referrals for clients to other appropriate specialist professionals or support workers.
