Civil Construction Road Worker

What people in this role do:

• Clear scrub, remove grass and topsoil and help with the preparation for drains and foundations
• Prepare road before surfacing by operating tank-truck distributor or hose to spray tar, road oils and emulsions, lay and spread gravel for road base
• Create road surface by operating paving machines or spreading stone chips, gravel, bitumen or asphalt
• Install and disassemble barricades and construction signs
• Direct and monitor traffic through work areas
• Load and unload equipment and machines
• Keep work site clean and follow OH&S regulations
• Assist with construction and maintenance of bridges and tunnels

Your chances of success will be better if you have:

• Interest in practical work
• A good level of physical fitness
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work well with others
• An interest in working outdoors
• School Certificate
