Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander Health Worker
What people in this role do:
- Provide health care and treat injuries or diseases
- Maintain client health records and statistics
- On behalf of clients, communicate their needs with other health workers
- Be involved in case management independently or with other health care providers
- Conduct health education to clients and staff
- Provide cultural education to all parties outside the cultural community
- Provide lifeskills education to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Arrange counselling and referral for crisis problem cases and follow-up
- Assist in planning, developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating community health programs
- Maintain budgets and other administrative duties.
